Arbitrary Metrics and a Last Minute Show

If you're on my official mailing list (and not the dozens of other lists people rightly accuse me of keeping), you've been getting emails from a third-party website called ReverbNation that provides a bunch of free tools for indie artists like yours truly. It seems to be growing in popularity, although it doesn't have the stature of MySpace or Facebook. Still, it helps me do things like email you quickly, and see who's been obsessively listening to "The Crater" online over and over again. (Hint: this is not a large number. Most of you own the EP anyways.)

ReverbNation keeps its own charts to rank its artists' popularity, and apparently I'm kind of high in the local folk rankings? (I'm ending that sentence in my head with an upwards inflection? Hence the question mark?) I'm currently at 6. I wouldn't normally invest time or energy in such arbitrary or incomplete metrics, but I'm rarely hold the #1 spot of anything, so I'm trying to get some more online listeners.

If you feel like helping (oh, you do? that's wonderful!) you can do a few things:
  • Go to the "My Band" tab on my Facebook profile and make sure you click on "Become a Fan" in the ReverbNation app. This lets ReverbNation know that you aren't just a random ex-boyfriend stalking me on Facebook.
  • Sign up for my official mailing list if you're not on it (the signup box is up top on this page).
  • Send me chocolate.
Also, Canasta's playing a last minute, free show at a new downtown venue. Detes here.
